Nice composition! You might want to consider ring flash or a dual-speedlight setup if you'd having a lot of trouble getting more light in your macro shots. Those can really help you get everything frozen in place with almost as much DoF as you care for.

I like how you've intersected the frame with petal (I think?) and you've got all the negative space really focusing us on the little green chap. The clarity is excellent, I see this was taken at 50mm, was that on a fixed or telephoto lens?

Thanks for the feedback, yea the goal was to get the pedal coming out from the corner of the frame. I used a 24-105mm ef L series with kenko extension tube. Its hard to get good focus with any low light so need a fast shutter to hold things still but I have a 100mm ef L series on the way so that should make macro a lot easier for me!

i remember trying to catch grasshoppers when i was younger. it was pretty much impossible to sneak upon them unseen. i could only catch them right after they landed and were too tired to jump right away.
